Hi George,

I'm not familiar with UK food regulations, but here in Australia we have the same problem, only the percentage is higher: it's 5% (see under heading But wait, there is more! - 5% Loophole).

The safest bet is cooking from scratch using organic produce as often as possible.

Take care.

I as well read the label before buying a product, and I don't buy if it contains additives. But is seems the food industry is long ahead of us, I've been reading that in UK the law says a food producer is not required to write an additive on the label if it's less that 2%. Does anyone know if this is correct?

This is good information, and a nice blog. I come from the UK myself and as you may know there are restrictions in the UK particularly on food colorings. I moved to the USA and was horrified to see the brightly colored dyed foods here. They are not restricting them it seems?! Anyway I re tweeted this on twitter and hopefully spread the word a little.

Just as an aside the comment you received from Maria is a from a spammer. I recognized the same on my blog. If you check the IP on Stop Forum Spam you'll know for sure. I've found the site really useful.
